Clemson is hosting one of its biggest official visit weekends of the year right now, and the visitor list reads like a who’s who of the 2027 recruiting cycle. More than 25 recruits are on campus this weekend, and the defensive line group alone tells you where Dabo Swinney is focusing his energy heading into the summer.
Six defensive ends and defensive tackles are on campus. Six. Elijah Cox, Santana Harvey, Justin Weeks (6-5, 250 out of Douglasville, Ga.), Cahron Wheeler, Jiquan Rogers, and Jaden Wuernth make up a DL group that could reshape the Tigers’ front four for years. When you put that many pass rushers and interior linemen in Death Valley on the same weekend, it is not an accident. It is a statement of intent.
The offensive line group is just as stacked. Jason Brown, Timi Aliu (who already had an official visit booked per separate reporting), Carter Jones, Elijah Morrison, Reed Ramsier, and Nate Carson are all on campus. Jones is the headliner here. The four-star interior lineman has Clemson trending heavily on the Crystal Ball and is expected to announce his commitment on CBS Sports’ College Football YouTube channel. If the Tigers close on Jones this weekend, it would be one of the biggest recruiting wins of the late-spring cycle.
In the secondary, cornerbacks Bryant Robinson and Jayden Aparicio-Bailey are both on campus, along with safeties Ta’Shawn Poole and Jarrell Chandler. Chandler, who committed to Clemson over Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Miami, is back on campus to help recruit. That is what you want from your commits. Roman Igwebuike and Sean Fox give the Tigers two linebackers with high ceilings in the building.
At skill positions, wide receivers Lawrence Britt, Tae Walden, Julian Cromartie, and Jamarvin Simmons are all on campus. Simmons, the four-star from Tallahassee who chose Clemson over Florida and Florida State, is back in Death Valley. Quarterback Kharim Hughley and running back Gary Walker (committed last week) round out the offensive skill group.
Then there is Nicholas Pollock. The 6-3, 240-pound tight end from Bogart, Ga., is the son of former Georgia defensive end David Pollock and a teammate of Clemson commit Harrison Luke. Pollock commited to Clemson on Tuesday. That is the kind of connection that closes recruitments. Teammates recruiting teammates, sons of former SEC players seeing what Clemson has to build.
Not every story this weekend is a win. Punter Brandin Gallaway, who had Clemson in his final group, committed to Kentucky. That one stings, but it is the cost of doing business in a cycle this competitive.
The transfer portal angle matters too. While the official visit weekend is about high school recruiting, Clemson is quietly working the portal for immediate help on the defensive line and at linebacker. The Tigers have been linked to multiple portal entries at both positions, and having this many high school DL targets on campus sends a message to portal prospects: the depth chart has openings, but the competition for those spots is about to get a lot stiffer.
This is the single biggest recruiting weekend of the late-spring cycle for Clemson. The defensive line group alone could produce three or four commitments over the next month. Carter Jones could come off the board as early as Monday. The secondary class is taking shape with Chandler already in the fold and Robinson and Aparicio-Bailey getting the full Death Valley treatment.
By Monday morning, the Tigers’ 2027 class could look significantly different than it does right now. That is what a weekend like this does. The hill does the recruiting. The staff just opens the door.
