CLEMSON, S.C. — Clemson wrapped up a statement series on Sunday, knocking off No. 18/23 Virginia 6-1 at McWhorter Stadium to complete the sweep. Power at the plate set the tone, with Kiley Channell and Taylor Pipkins each going deep, while Mac Pavese and Macey Cintron added key run-producing hits. The win lifts Clemson to 30-17 overall and 12-9 in ACC play, while Virginia moves to 33-11 with a 10-10 conference mark.
The Tigers wasted no time jumping ahead. Jamison Brockenbrough reached to open the first after being hit by a pitch and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt. Pavese then delivered a double to bring her home, and Cintron followed with a single that plated Pavese, quickly putting Clemson up 2-0.
Momentum carried into the second inning. After Corri Hicks drew a walk and advanced on a wild pitch, Pipkins came through with a two-out, two-run homer to left-center, stretching the lead to 4-0. The long ball marked her seventh of the season and continued a recent surge at the plate.
Virginia briefly answered with a solo shot in the third, but Clemson responded immediately. Channell opened the bottom half with a home run of her own, restoring a comfortable cushion at 5-1.
Clemson added another in the fourth after a leadoff double by Breaux and a pair of walks loaded the bases. Channell capped her strong outing with an RBI single to right, bringing in a run that pushed the score to 6-1—a margin that held the rest of the way.
In the circle, Sierra Maness went the distance, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out four. The complete-game effort earned her 16th win of the season.
Clemson returns to action Tuesday, April 21, closing out its home schedule with a midweek matchup against Presbyterian. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on ACCNX
