The Clemson basketball team picked up their second offseason transfer, acquiring guard Jaeden Zackery on Sunday morning. The report was first reported by 247Sports.
It is the second transfer of the week for head coach Brad Brownell and his squad, who picked up center Viktor Lakhin from Cincinnati on Wednesday.
Zackery will use his final year of eligibility with the Tigers, spending his last three years at Boston College while being a consistent starter with the Eagles. He spent his first year of college basketball with Chipola College in Florida.
Starting in 36 games for Boston College last season, Zackery averaged 11.3 points and 4.2 assists per game in the 2023-2024 season. What stands out about the rising fifth-year senior is his ability to shoot, nailing 40.5% of 3-pointers last season while shooting 48.4% from the field.
Clemson fans know the 6-foot-2 guard over his last two games against Clemson, scoring 18 and 22 points in his two contests against the Tigers this season. His 22-point performance in the ACC Tournament helped advance the Eagles in the tournament, knocking Clemson out back in March.
A player with incredible playmaking ability and great shooting ability, Zackery will fit instantly in the starting rotation for Brownell, who has been looking for a consistent 3-point shooter following the loss of Joseph Girard III, who ran out of eligibility following this season.
The guard joins Dillon Hunter, Jake Heidbreder and Alex Hemenway as the experienced guards for Clemson. Starting guard Chase Hunter did declare for the NBA Draft, but will keep his eligibility if a return to Littlejohn Coliseum is more enticing to the standout.
