Clemson’s Men’s Soccer defender Pape Mar Boye signed with the Phoenix Rising this past Tuesday. In his first and only season at Clemson, Boye helped lead the Tigers to their fourth National Championship. Despite being a top prospect in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, Boye opted to join the defending USL champions for the 2024 season.
Throughout the season’s last seven games, Boye led the Clemson backline that allowed just three goals. His performance garnered attention due to his numerous accolades throughout the season. Those included the 2023 College Cup defensive MVP, Freshman All-American by Top Drawer Soccer, 2023 United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Third Team, College Soccer News Team of the Week and All-Freshman team, along with All-ACC Honors.
During his time with Clemson, Boye started in all 20 games, including postseason matches. With his 6’1″ frame, he was known for being able to rise over anyone on the pitch to win any header in his area. Despite being the last line of defense, he netted two goals for the Tigers during the season.
Hailing from Senegal, Boye’s soccer journey started in his home country before moving to the US in his junior year of high school. He played for Monteverde Academy before he signed with Clemson. Boye has also represented Senegal at the 2021 Beach Soccer World Cup.
As Boye embarks on this new chapter with the Phoenix Rising, we express gratitude for his contributions to the Tigers and extend our best wishes for his future endeavors with the Rising.
