Offensive players to watch for in the spring game
Quote from cdubya_tiger on April 2, 2024, 4:22 pmI will do a defensive players to watch by tonight or tomorrow but today is all about the offense.....
QB- First and foremost its Christopher Vizzina & Trent Pearman. Yes Trent Pearman the staff is very high on him. Yes he is a coaches son, Yes he played at Daniel, But.... the kid can play. For those of you who saw him in high school knows he is the real deal. Trent had plenty of offers coming out of high school but chose to stay home. Just Keep an eye on him. What do we need to see from Vizzina? Well what we need to see is a backup that can handle it. Reports every say he has taken a big step maybe so... but he is going to have to show it to me that he is capable. Last but not least Cade. Cade HAS to take the next step 100000% has to. I dont need him to be perfect on Saturday but I need him to show me he knows the offense now. Show me he knows where he needs to go with the ball, make the right reads. Cade Klubnik has to be a 3rd year guy this year PERIOD.
RB- We know what we have in Phil Mafah that's a given right, honestly if he does not play Saturday I wont be sad. What we need to see on Saturday is who is next on the field. Keith Adams is a name we are hearing alot coming out in the media. He averaged a little over 5 yards a carry on like 11 carries last year that is not a big enough sample size. I truely believe by time end of fall camp gets here the names were going to be hearing is Jay Haynes & David Eziomume aka "EZI". Jarvis Green may have a role somewhere in this offense as well I just am not sure where he fits in at as of yet. Haynes to me his first step is really really close to Travis Etienne he has a lot of burst in that first step. Then you have "EZI" who if a close comparison to Mafah. The running back room to me has the most questions.
WR- Two numbers to know #12 & #18. #12 is Bryant Wesco freshman out of Texas. He is an absolute burner something this team has DESPERATELY needed. Then you have #18 Misun "Tink" Kelley. We have heard he was making plays all of last fall camp but the staff wanted to hold him because of all the other guy. But I believe he can be an absolute DOG in this receiver corp. Between those 2 Tyler Brown, Antonio Williams, Troy Stellato and whenever he gets here TJ Greene this could be the best batch of receivers we have had here in a very long while.
TE- This could be our best tight-end rom we have had here in program history. With Jake Briningstool, Josh Sapp who flashed multiple times last year, Olson Patt-Henry who is just this big bodied kid that can move for a guy his size, and Banks Pope another big kid. Keep an eye on this group because their success is vital to the offense use of the middle of the field come this fall.
OL- With Matt Luke coming on board you can already feel it inside the facility and on the practice field. There is not one player to watch out of this group it is the group as a whole. I want to see this group play with a lot more nastiness. I want to see some big mean dudes with something to prove. As this group goes our offense will go, if this group can get their act together it will do nothing but help Cade not see the Ghost that I firmly believe that he was seeing last year. NO MORE SWISS CHEESE!!!
PK- Robert Gunn III has he no pun intended kicked the demons from last year. The kid has a huge leg we all know that. But in the words of Jerry Maguire he got to "SHOW ME THE MONEY". Nolan Hauser I am interested to see what his leg is like he is another big bomber like Gunn but if he can be more accurate and Gunn is still trying to kick the demons we could be going into a game against UGA with a True Freshman kicker. This group can make us or break us this year.
