First Pitch - 6:07PM

Cannarella starts the Tigers off with a 1-1 single up the left field gap, but after getting moved to 2nd on a Mathes putout at first, Wright and Nawrocki popped out to right in-between a Hinderleider walk, and the top of the first is over.

After leadoff man Gernon gets out on a slow roller to the pitcher, Hamilton singles on a blooper to right. Sherrod grounds out to first base, but moves Gernon to second. After a Rinehart walk,  Barlow strikes out Sullivan to end the inning.

Will Taylor leads off the 2nd with a walk, followed by a Bissetta walk of his own. Blauser forces the fielder's choice at 2nd base and moves Taylor over to third, with two on and one out. Jarrell draws a walk to fill the bases for the top of the order. This chases Ellingworth, and enters in Matthew Curtis for the Spartans.

Cam Cannarella then hits a ball through the left field gap and drives in two to give the lead to the Tigers. Mathes follows that with a triple to drive in the next two runners to make it 4-0 Clemson. Wright hits a bouncer to the third baseman to drive in Mathes on the sacrifice, making it 5-0 Tigers with two outs.

Hinderleider hits one up the middle over 2nd base for a single, and then quickly follows it up by stealing 2nd. Nawrocki then flies out to the first baseman in foul territory and the side is retired.

Barton strikes out right fielder Kropf, grounds out catcher Periera, and pops up second baseman Coleman to go 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 2nd.

Will Taylor gives another productive at-bat by taking first base off a hit-by-pitch from Curtis. Bissetta then flies out to the third baseman who makes an athletic play to make the catch in foul territory. Blauser then hits a slow-roller that gets by the third baseman to mark both runners safe at first and second. Jarrell would then single to center to drive in Taylor, making it 6-0 Tigers with still only one out.

Another pop-up by Cannarella would secure out number two for the Spartans, but USC Upstate decides to switch pitchers from Curtis to Hodgdon before facing Alden Mathes again. He would fly out to deep left to end the side.

Barton would walk the lead-off batter Armsey, prompting a mound visit from catcher Jarrell to calm him down. Gernon flies out to Taylor in left, prompting the rest of the pitching staff to run around the outfield to the designated bullpen in right - awkwardly stopping the game. Nawrocki fields a hard-hit ball on the third base line but the throw is off-target and the Spartans get two aboard with one out.

Barton responds by striking out and flying out the next two batters to end the 3rd and the threat.

A few things to catch up on here:

After a 1-2-3 top of the 4th for Spartan pitching, Barton would have a one-out strikeout in the dirt that saw the runner reach at first, but follow that up with getting the double play to end the inning.

In the top of the 5th, Taylor and Bissetta draw walks which brings on a new pitcher, Aaron Kuskie, for the Spartans.

Blauser would pop out, but Jarrell would hit a hard line drive to deep right to drive home Taylor and secure a standup double and make the score 8-0. Cannarella would then hit a hard grounder to first that makes for an awkward play at first that was initially called safe but went to review. After review, Cam is safe, securing another RBI to make it 9-0 Clemson.

With two runners on and one out, Mathes would drive in Jarrell at 3rd with a grounder that sneaks out to right field. It’s now 9-0 Tigers. Wright would then hit a single to shallow left to drive home the tenth Clemson run in only 5 innings.

A wild pitch would allow the runner on third, Mathe, to take home and make it 11-0 Tigers.

Hinderleider would strike out looking, and the next ball in play would lead to an out at the plate to end the top to the inning. USC Upstate would respond by driving in their first run of the game from second on a single up the middle.
