Clemson moves to No. 2 in D1Baseball's RPI report

Following their weekend sweep in California this past weekend, Clemson (30-5) claimed the No. 2 spot in D1Baseball’s RPI report, sitting just behind Arkansas (30-3). Clemson, who has won five in a row, picked up their 30th win on Sunday.

Unlike D1Baseball’s opinion-based rankings, the RPI report is a system that ranks teams based on their strength of schedule, their winning percentage versus their opponent’s winning percentage, as well as factoring in home and road wins.

Clemson climbed from No. 6 to No. 4 in D1Baseball’s weekly Top 25 rankings, now sitting just behind LSU and well ahead of Tennessee. While Arkansas holds the top spot in both the Top 25 and the RPI report, Clemson trails them by only two losses.

Clemson is 19-3 at home, 6-1 on the road, and 5-1 at neutral sites. Arguably their most memorable series, which involved a home game, a neutral-site game, and a road game, was their sweep of the South Carolina Gamecocks on the weekend of February 28.

D1Baseball currently ranks Clemson’s strength of schedule at No. 25, setting the stage for a challenging stretch in the coming weeks as they face No. 9-ranked Florida State and No. 14-ranked Louisville.

Transfers Luke Gaffney, Dominic Listi, Josh Paino, and Collin Priest have been excellent additions for the Tigers, playing key roles in their success this season. Listi is batting .314 with a .979 OPS, while driving in 33 RBIs as the team's leadoff hitter. Paino and Priest have provided power, leading the team with six home runs each, and Gaffney has added his own pop, hitting .291 with four home runs.

Clemson is 9-3 in the ACC and captured their fourth straight ACC series victory last weekend. A late-inning comeback on Friday and a run-rule victory on Saturday showcased the Tigers’ resilience over the weekend.

Clemson is back in action on Wednesday, facing Gardner-Webb at 7 p.m.
