Clemson’s recruiting class has gone from afterthought to headline in six weeks. Nineteen commits. Top ten nationally.
RJ Hudson’s late June addition capped a run that reshaped the roster. It started slowly. Kharim Hughley, a 4-star quarterback from Gainesville, Ga., was the first domino back in July 2025. Max Brown, a 4-star linebacker, followed.
Then May hit and everything changed.
Gary Walker committed on May 20. The 4-star running back from Fairburn, Ga., rated No. 7 at his position by 247Sports, chose Clemson over Penn State, Florida, and Florida State. Jamarin Simmons pledged the same day, ranked 61st overall, picking the Tigers over Florida, Auburn, and Tennessee. Those two changed the perception of this cycle overnight. Jarrell Chandler got it started earlier. The 4-star safety committed May 8 over Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Miami. Carter Jones, a 6-6, 300-pound interior lineman from Poquoson, Va., followed on May 25 over Tennessee, Penn State, and Georgia.
Elijah Morrison committed May 29 over the Bulldogs, Auburn, and FSU. Santana Harvey, a 4-star EDGE at 6-4 and 230 pounds from Lakeland, Fla., picked Clemson over Notre Dame and Colorado that same week.
Four in one day. That was June 1.
Desmond Malpress was first. The 4-star edge rusher from Jacksonville, rated 125th overall by the Composite. Luke Starcevic, a 4-star offensive lineman from Kindred, N.D., 6-5 and 250 pounds, chose the Tigers over Notre Dame and Kansas State. Nick Pollack, a 3-star tight end from Bogart, Ga., the son of former Georgia standout David Pollack, came next. JJ Brown closed it out. The 4-star offensive tackle from Lilburn, Ga., a massive 6-6 and 305 pounds, shut down his recruitment after his only official visit. Julian Cromartie committed on his official visit May 29 over Kentucky. The son of former NFL Pro Bowler Antonio Cromartie. Jayden Aparicio-Bailey, a 4-star safety from Prattville, Ala., 6-2, 195 pounds, 90 grade, ranked 175th nationally. RJ Hudson committed June 19, an 88 grade, ranked 47th among edge rushers nationally. The Hudson commitment capped the June run. Carter Blackwell and Nick Pollack give the Tigers two tight ends. That position is handled.
So where does the class stand?
Nineteen commits with unusual depth across positions. Four 4-star offensive linemen, four edge rushers or defensive linemen, two tight ends, two wide receivers, a quarterback, a running back, two safeties, a linebacker, and a cornerback. Who is left? Seth Williams, the 3-star defensive back from Atlanta’s Lakeside High School, decommitted in April after a two-week pledge. He is back on the market and Clemson may re-engage. Camden Noe is a tight end target who could add another dimension even with Blackwell and Pollack on board. Seth Tillman has surfaced in crystal ball predictions. The staff still needs linebackers, and a second cornerback would help. The summer official visit season runs through August.
This class is ahead of schedule compared to recent cycles. The 2026 group had fewer blue-chip commitments in late June. The 2025 class was not this deep at the same point. The closest comparison is the 2023 cycle, which finished top five nationally. The Tigers are winning head-to-head battles with SEC programs at a rate they have not sustained before. When the son of a Seminole All-Pro chooses Clemson over the family legacy, when a Georgia interior lineman picks the Tigers over the Bulldogs before his official visit, that is the kind of momentum that compounds. Room for four to six more depending on the numbers. Linebacker is the biggest remaining need. If the staff closes on even half the targets still on the board, this class finishes as one of the best in program history.
