That midweek trip to Charlotte turned into exactly what Clemson needed. The Tigers took care of business with a 7-3 win, a clean, steady performance that never really felt in doubt once they settled in.
It was not perfect, but it was controlled. The offense did enough early, the pitching staff avoided the big inning, and Clemson played from in front. After a stretch where close games kept slipping away, this one felt a little different. Less tense, more composed, and most importantly, finished.
That matters right now.
#Clemson plays Virginia for the first time since 2022 in a three-game series in Charlottesville.

Clemson (24-14; 5-10 ACC) has shown plenty of flashes against top competition, but stacking wins has been the missing piece. Tuesday night was a step in that direction. Not a statement, not a turning point just yet, but a reminder of what this group looks like when it plays clean baseball for nine innings.
Now comes a much bigger test.
The Tigers head to Charlottesville to face a top-15 Virginia Cavaliers baseball club that has been tough to beat, especially at home. Virginia sits at 26-12 overall and 10-8 in ACC play, and they have turned Davenport Field into a real advantage with a 15-5 record.
This is where Clemson finds out something about itself.
The opportunities have been there all season. The margins have been thin. Now it is about walking into a tough environment and finding a way to not just compete, but finish. The talent has never been the question.
The next few days will say a lot about whether this group can finally turn those “almost” weekends into something more.

Clemson Briefly
Ariston Veasey has a boring stat line on paper, but the transfer from Alabama came in on a bases loaded, no out spot in the bottom of the eighth, with the game still in the balance, and got three strike outs to retire the side and seemingly end the threat for the remainder of the game. Huge performance from the right hander.
Bryce Clavon continues to be a spark at the top of the lineup with two hits and a run scored.
Jacob Jarrell continues to do Jarrell things. The senior catcher hit his 14th home run, drove in three and added another hit in a big 2-5 day in the victory.
Jackson Moore and Luke Gaffney both had 2 runs batted in for the Tigers, as the lineup produced 10 hits and 7 runs on the night.
Through 38 games, Clemson is hitting .290 as a team and has tallied 71 doubles, 3 triples and 49 home runs while scoring 258 runs, good for an average of 6.8 runs per game.
Aidan Knaak will start Thursday night for the Tigers. Michael Sharman will start Friday night, and the Tigers have not announced a starter for the finale on Saturday. Drew Titsworth took a liner off of his body last week, so it is believed that the staff is waiting to see where he is over the weekend.
Clemson pitchers have a 4.26 ERA with 383 strikeouts and 127 walks. Opponents are hitting .227 against Tiger pitching.
UP NEXT: Clemson is back in action against Virginia at Disharoon Park in Charlottesville, Va. on Thursday at 7 p.m. on ACC Network.

Final Thought
TThat one in Chapel Hill felt like a missed chance more than anything else. Clemson proved it could line up with a top-five North Carolina Tar Heels baseball club, grabbed Friday night, and got a big-time effort on the mound Saturday, but could not quite close the door. Those are the ones that stick with you, especially when you can see exactly how it could have gone the other way.
The response in Charlotte mattered.
Clemson went on the road and handled Charlotte 7-3, playing with a level of control that had been missing at times during ACC play. Got 6 big runs early and held on late. It was not flashy, just good baseball across the board. They got ahead, stayed ahead, and finished it. That is a step forward.
Now comes another real test.
A trip to face a top-15 Virginia Cavaliers baseball team that has been tough all year and even tougher at home. Virginia is 26-12 overall, 10-8 in the league, and 15-5 on its home field. There is not much margin for error in that environment.
Clemson has a hill to climb, no way around it. But the season is still right there in front of them. There is time to make a push toward the NCAA Tournament, and everything they want is still within reach.
It just has to start now…again.
Thursday at 7PM EST, Friday at 6PM EST, and Saturday at 1PM EST at Davenport Field at Disharoon Park in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Go Tigers!
