Clemson football has seen its ups and downs on the recruiting trail in recent years, and the Tigers suffered another blow on Thursday morning.
Three-star defensive back Seth Williams from Atlanta, GA (Lakeside High School) announced via Instagram that he has de-committed from Clemson. Williams had made his pledge to the Tigers just over two weeks ago and his commitment did not last long.

“I have decommitted from Clemson University,” posted Williams. “My recruitment is 100% open. Thank you to Clemson for the opportunity.”

It is a blow for Clemson whose 2027 class now stands at just six commitments and is ranked #19 overall by 247Sports. As head coach Dabo Swinney looks to bring the Tigers back to national prominence, this is not a good sign that things are trending in the right direction.
Williams had originally picked Clemson football over a list of suitors that included Penn State, Wisconsin, and Vanderbilt.
Shortly after he backed off his pledge to the Tigers, Williams announced a visit to in-state and in-city rival Georgia Tech.
