Clemson basketball continued its strong early-season form with a unequivocal win over Morehead State, displaying the Tigers’ depth and discipline on both ends of the floor.
Forward Jake Wahlin led the charge with 14 points and 4 rebounds, while RJ Godfrey recorded a double-double, putting up 13 points and 11 boards. Nick Davidson added 6 points and 7 rebounds, and Ace Buckner came off the bench to contribute 12 points and energy on both ends of the court.
Clemson’s size and defensive intensity kept Morehead State out of rhythm for much of the game. The Eagles’ Davion Cunningham was one of the few bright spots, finishing with 18 points and 7 rebounds, but Clemson’s rebounding advantage and ball movement proved too much to handle on the day.
Guards Dillon Hunter and Jestin Porter combined for 14 points, providing steady perimeter play to complement the Tigers’ frontcourt dominance.
After the game, Clemson forward RJ Godfrey said he had this game against Morehead State circled on his calendar — not just for the matchup, but for personal motivation. Godfrey shared that he wanted to win for his mentor, former Tiger Hunter Tyson. “He means so much to me, I still remember how that locker room was after that last game.” The result, a double-double performance with 13 points and 11 rebounds was a fitting tribute to the example Tyson set.
