The Clemson men’s basketball team kicked off the season in dominant fashion, cruising to an 88-38 win over New Hampshire and allowing the fewest points in a season opener since 1946.
Under head coach Brad Brownell, the Tigers improved to 15-1 in season openers and 40-1 in their last 41.

Redshirt freshman Ace Buckner led the way with 18 points, three rebounds, two assists and one block, showcasing great efficiency by shooting 6-for-7 from the floor.
Senior RJ Godfrey came close to his third career double-double, adding nine points and nine rebounds.

Several new faces made a strong impact in tonight’s game for Clemson
Junior Jake Wahlin, a transfer from Utah, contributed 11 points and four rebounds, while Jestin Porter, who came from Middle Tennessee State, added eight points, five rebounds, and three assists.

Overall, 12 Tigers saw action, with 11 logging double-digit minutes and scoring.
Clemson closed the first half on a 15-2 run, heading into the break with a 27-point lead, and never let up in the second half.
New Hampshire’s Comeh Emuobor was the only Wildcat in double figures with 11 points. The Tigers held the Wildcats to 25% shooting overall and just 14.8% from three-point range.
Clemson dominated the glass, outrebounding New Hampshire 45-30, also while excelling at the free-throw line, outsourcing the Wildcats 41-9.
The Tigers look to keep their momentum going, staying home to face Gardner-Webb on Friday at 7 p.m.
