Tigers lock down a historic group of talent, setting the stage for a new chapter in Littlejohn.
CLEMSON, S.C. – Something special is brewing in Tigertown, and it has everything to do with the future of Clemson women’s basketball. Head Coach Shawn Poppie, the architect of this rapid resurgence, has been hitting the recruiting trail with a vengeance. The result? A 2026 class for the ages, one that has the rest of the ACC on notice. The exclamation point arrived this week with the commitment of Trinity Jones, a five-star phenom who instantly becomes the most decorated recruit in program history.
The Trinity Jones Effect
Let’s be clear: getting a player like Trinity Jones changes everything. Ranked the No. 7 player in the nation and the second-best guard, Jones is a game-changer. On October 27th, she made it official, picking the Tigers over a who’s who of college basketball royalty. For those who’ve followed this program for years, this is the kind of recruiting win you dream about. It speaks volumes about the culture Poppie is building. Jones, an Illinois native, is the crown jewel of a class that’s already loaded with talent, including fellow top-50 prospects in forward Julia Scott (No. 29), forward Kimora Fields (No. 34), and guard Meeyah Green (No. 51). This isn’t just a good class; it’s the kind of class that wins championships.
Poppie’s Recruiting Revolution
When Shawn Poppie took the job, he promised to bring a new level of energy to recruiting, and he’s been a man of his word. In a short time, he’s landed six top-100 recruits – that’s as many as the program had in the last 12 years combined. This isn’t just about collecting talent; it’s about a seismic shift in how Clemson is perceived on the national stage. Add in the 2025 commitments of top-100 players Holland Harris and Amaia Jackson, and you have a roster that’s built to last.
A New Dawn for Clemson Women’s Hoops
For the first time in a long time, there’s a genuine buzz around this program. The pieces are in place for a sustained run of success. With a roster brimming with talent and a coaching staff that knows how to develop it, the Tigers are on the verge of becoming a force in the ACC. Get ready, Clemson fans. The future is now, and it’s going to be a fun ride.
