Clemson Freshman Kwaku Agyabeng has been named the ACC defensive player of the week. This information was announced on Tuesday by the leagues office.
Agyabeng netted his first collegiate goal in the dominant 3-0 win over the Duke Blue Devils, marking the Tigers third top-10 win this season.
The Ghanaian international played the full 90 minutes in midfield for the Tigers, registering three shots, two on target while also excelling in dictating play. His composure on the ball and control of tempo have been key to Clemson’s push for the ACC throne.
This isn’t the only recognition for the Kumasi, Ghana native this season, he’s also ranked No. 6 among freshmen in TopDrawerSoccer’s national top-100 list.

Agyabeng’s rise has mirrored Clemson’s surge in form, as the Tigers have tightened up defensively and found new rhythm in possession. With his blend of maturity and technical control, Agyabeng has quickly become one of the most influential freshmen in college soccer.
Next up for the Tigers is a ride up north to Charlottesville, Virginia to face off against the Virginia Cavaliers.
