Erik Bakich and Clemson have added on their seventh transfer of the off season following an early Regional round exit in the College Baseball Tournament.
The most recent commit comes from the West Coast, Nate Savoie, a rising sophomore catcher from Loyola Marymount University.
A common denominator that I’ve been able to notice throughout this transfer cycle is that Clemson is looking for younger guys with multiple years of eligibility left, yet have still shown immense talent and ability — especially slugging — in their young careers at their original schools. I like it a lot.
Excited to announce my commitment to play baseball at Clemson University. Thankful for this opportunity God has blessed me with and looking forward to joining the tiger family! 🐅

The 6-foot, 205-pound catcher came out of the 2024 class ranked as a Top 500 prospect, the No. 71 catcher and the No. 98 player in California, per Perfect Game.
Savoie wasn’t too highly-touted out of high school, signing to mid-major program Loyola Marymount, where he’d go on to immediately show why he should’ve been competing at a higher level.
By the way when I say immediately, I mean immediately. He recorded his first collegiate hit in his second game of the season versus Seattle University, that hit being a home run. Savoie finished the game batting 4-for-5, accounting for two home runs and five RBIs, earning him West Coast Conference (WCC) Freshman of the Week honors.
The power-hitting utility (OF/C) can absolutely swing it, finishing his 2025 freshman campaign with 61 hits and RBIs, 42 runs to go with 20 home runs and 14 doubles on a .300 batting average. He finished Top 75 in slugging percentage and tied No. 24 for home runs nationally.
While he did come out of high school as primarily a catcher, he switched to outfield for a majority of his freshman year at the collegiate level, active at catcher for only 13 games of the 53 he played. Over the course of the season, Savoie registered 152 putouts, 14 assists and four errors to finish with a .976 fielding percentage.
On top of his amazing 2025 season, the first-year stud performed extremely well with the pressure on in the WCC Tournament, belting three home runs, 10 RBIs on a .333 batting average. These numbers led to him being selected for the WCC All-Tournament Team and earned him the WCC Tournament home run record with three.
Nate Savoie was one of the best and youngest sluggers in the country and with Bakich recruiting out West last off season, it’s not too much of a surprise that the utility will be making his way to Tiger town.
