The Clemson Tigers are on a scorcher following their official visit this past weekend, adding their 18th player in their 2026 class and their sixth offensive lineman — evident to the Matt Luke effect — Carter Scruggs.
He announced his verbal commitment to the program live this Thursday, choosing the Tigers over Georgia, Michigan, Penn State and Oklahoma.
He received a pair of crystal-ball predictions to Clemson from 247Sports Insiders, hinting at his future commitment to the program.
“I knew Clemson was the place for me since the first visit there. I grew up with Clemson, watching the football program. Everything that they’re doing, how successful they are, how well they can develop me, and they have great academics as well.”

The 6-foot-5, 280-pound interior offensive lineman ranks as the No. 195 overall prospect, the No. 12 IOL and the No. 7 player in Virginia, per 247Sports Composite.
In 2024-2025, Scruggs started at left tackle for Loudon County High School and led them to an 8-4 record and a regional semi-final playoff game, surrendering zero sacks the entire season. This dominant single-season performance earned him All-Metro selection honors. He also was named Offensive Line MVP at Under Armour New Jersey in May of this year.
He’s a polished lineman who plays with control and power. He finishes blocks with strong hands, drives defenders with leg strength, and seals outside lanes well. Smooth in pass sets, though quicker rushers can challenge him. Not the most agile, but builds momentum and climbs to the second level effectively.
