Alabama transfer RHP Ariston Veasey commits to Clemson Baseball

Shortly after Erik Bakich and Clemson Baseball’s 2024-2025 season ended, they’ve already started recruiting for next year out of the transfer portal, per usual.

The first transfer to head to Tiger Town is Ariston Veasey, former Alabama RHP/UTL.

This announcement comes only one day after Clemson LHP Ethan Darden entered the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining.

Veasey has two years left of eligibility after pitching in six games over the past two years for the Alabama Crimson Tide, who’ve had a hefty bullpen the past couple of years.

However, he primarily played five of those six games this past season, recording a 9.82 ERA and 2.45 WHIP with six strikeouts, six walks and four earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched.

While his numbers don’t stick out too much, he’s still extremely young (19) and was a borderline top-100 prospect, ranking as the No. 105 overall recruit and the No. 12 player in Georgia. Not to mention, it’s hard to get your feet wet when you barely have any time to.

He could also possibly be better suited at a different position as he took a lot of reps at catcher and outfielder in high school, ranking as the No. 23 outfielder in the nation heading into college.

His talent is evident as he re-classified during the fall of his senior year and even earned a spot on USA Baseball’s 16U/17U National Team Development Program; it just needs to be brought out of him by the correct staff and procedures.

Alabama’s lack of development and utilization is astonishing, as Veasey tops out at 97 mph on his four-seam fastball and has a load of unique pitches up his sleeve that he’s been working on.

He looks to be Clemson’s new weapon in the bullpen heading into next year as the pitching this past season was very inconsistent.
