Clemson and Dabo Swinney’s 2027 class is off to an interesting yet great start as Max Brown — brother of LB Sammy Brown — is the first of his class officially committed to Clemson.
It didn’t take too long for him to decide where he wanted to spend his collegiate career, especially with his brother potentially being at the backer spot alongside him by the time he arrives.
Brown was offered just two days ago, expressing his excitement about the affair on X (formerly known as Twitter).
He chose the Tigers over schools that include, but aren’t limited to, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Ole Miss.
Not a bad recruiter myself https://t.co/ml3AYNto8U

The 6-foot-1, 214-pound linebacker hails out of the same high school as his brother, Jefferson High School in Georgia and ranks as the No. 281 recruit overall, the No. 13 ATH and the No. 35 player state-wide, per 247Sports Composite.
While Sammy displayed his elite talent on both sides of the ball (RB and LB) as a five-star recruit, Max has strictly played defense on the varsity level so far and could come in with just as much potential according to the numbers and film. But, he has made offensive highlights at running back on Jefferson’s Junior Varsity squad.
As a freshman, Brown recorded 43 tackles, two for a loss, one sack and a forced fumble. He showed traits of a hard runner and a hard hitter who has a high awareness to read plays and get in the backfield quicker than most, primarily through shedding blocks.
But he would take a massive leap in his sophomore campaign, catching the eyes of many elite FBS programs.
The run-stopping backer stuffed the stat sheet with 152 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups, three fumble recoveries and a forced fumble in 14 games.
To put these stats into perspective, his highly-touted brother put up similar numbers as a senior — 153 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, two interceptions, one sack, one pass deflection and a forced fumble. This comparison isn’t to downplay Sammy at all, as he played both sides and was a fantastic prospect, but I simply want to show you how talented Max is.
This dominant season aided him towards leading Jefferson to the State Championship — unfortunately, falling short to Calhoun. He was also selected for MaxPreps’ Sophomore All-American Team, 1st Team All-Region and 2nd Team All-State Defense, making him the only 2027 player to be chosen.

While Max Brown has already made his mark in the state of Georgia and as a four-star recruit, Tiger fans will keep an eye out on him as he wraps his last two seasons of high school up before he can team up with his brother in the hills of Clemson.
