CLEMSON, S.C. – Clemson softball standout Brooke McCubbin has been named the Wilson/NFCA National Pitcher of the Week and the ACC Pitcher of the Week for her dominant performances from April 22–27. The honors, announced Tuesday by the NFCA and the ACC, mark McCubbin’s first weekly awards and the first national pitching recognition for Clemson since 2023.
McCubbin was nearly untouchable across three appearances, tossing 12 scoreless innings while giving up just five hits and holding opposing hitters to a .128 batting average. Her biggest moment of the week came against top-ranked Tennessee, where she entered in relief and threw four shutout innings to help the Tigers secure a 4-3 extra-inning win — the highest-ranked victory in Clemson softball history.
The right-hander followed that up with two more wins against Georgia Tech. On Saturday, she started and pitched four shutout innings in a 19-0 blowout to clinch the series. She closed the weekend by tossing another four innings in the series finale, allowing just one hit in Clemson’s comeback win to complete the sweep.
So far in the 2025 season, McCubbin has posted a 2.75 ERA with 13 wins, two solo shutouts, three combined shutouts, and three saves across 109.1 innings. She has also tallied 71 strikeouts, anchoring Clemson’s pitching staff.
With the regular season now complete following the sweep of Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Clemson softball awaits its seeding for the 2025 ACC Softball Championship, scheduled for May 7–10 in Brighton, Massachusetts.
