Four-star WR Gordon Sellars commits to Clemson Football

After missing on Providence Day School prospect David Sanders Jr — one of the best offensive linemen in the country — Clemson Football and Dabo Swinney were able to get his elite teammate, Gordon Sellars.

The choice by the Charlotte native didn’t come as a huge surprise to Tiger fans as he was crystal-balled to Clemson by a multitude of recruiting insiders — including a South Carolina insider, who made the prediction as he was visiting the Gamecocks.

Sellars chose the Tigers over notable programs — Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, South Carolina and NC A&T.

The lengthy receiver ranks as the No. 207 overall recruit, the No. 31 wide receiver and the No. 12 player in the state of North Carolina, per 247Sports Composite.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound receiver has always shown potential, evidently making Providence Day’s varsity squad as a freshman. While he didn’t see the field much, it was still a positive sign for Sellars and the rest of the football staff.

He would see great progression as a sophomore for the Chargers, putting up 507 yards and four touchdowns on only 22 receptions — including a 113-yard and two touchdown performance in his first contest of the season.

While he was finally ranked, there was more room for growth clearly as his junior season would be the best of his young career. This past season, he doubled his production by recording 50 catches for 975 yards and 10 touchdowns. He helped lead his team to a 9-3 record and a top-10 ranking in North Carolina. Unfortunately, they would fall short of a state championship, losing by a field-goal in the finals of the NCISAA 11-Man Football Playoffs.

Following his outstanding junior campaign Sellars would shoot up in the national rankings, going from a fringe top-300 recruit to a top-200 athlete within just a few months. Power-4 schools would flock towards the prospect, receiving offers from power-house programs like Penn State, Georgia and Ohio State. Nevertheless, he’d decide to stay close to home and commit to Clemson.

Clemson wide receiver coach Tyler Grisham has been on an absolute tear this off-season, rising up 12 spots in the 2026 Football Recruiter Rankings for 247Sports and solidifying himself as a top-5 recruiter for the 2026 cycle. The wide outs he’s recruited that are coming to Clemson consist of fringe five-star Na’eem Burroughs, four-star Connor Salmin and now Sellars.
