Cam Cannarella: Clemson Baseball Star Named to 2025 Golden Spikes Award Watch List

Clemson University junior outfielder Cam Cannarella has been named to the 2025 Golden Spikes Award preseason watch list, an honor presented annually by USA Baseball to the nation’s top amateur baseball player. This recognition underscores Cannarella’s significant contributions to Clemson Baseball and highlights his potential for the upcoming season.

Cannarella went to Hartsville High School, where he distinguished himself by being named the Morning News Baseball Player of the Year in both his junior and senior years, highlighting his remarkable skill and commitment to the game.

Cannarella made a significant impact as a freshman for the Clemson Tigers, starting all 59 games and quickly becoming a key player. He achieved an impressive .388 batting average, along with a .462 on-base percentage and a .560 slugging percentage. Throughout the season, he hit seven home runs, drove in 47 RBIs, and stole 24 bases in 250 at-bats. His outstanding performances earned him Freshman All-American honors, an All-ACC selection, and the prestigious ACC Freshman of the Year award. His knack for getting on base and creating scoring chances made him one of the most exciting players in the conference.

Even while dealing with injuries in his second season, Cannarella continued to excel as a vital part of Clemsonโ€™s lineup. He posted a solid .337 batting average and boosted his power numbers, hitting 11 home runs and driving in 60 RBIs over 58 games. His efforts earned him third-team All-American honors from the NCBWA and a Third-Team All-ACC selection. He was also named to the Golden Spikes Award Watch List and the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award Watch List, further establishing his status as one of the top players in college baseball.

As the 2025 season approaches, Cannarella’s inclusion on the Golden Spikes Award preseason watch list places him among the nation’s elite amateur baseball players.
