Wide Receiver Noble Johnson Enters the Transfer Portal

Clemson wide receivers Noble Johnson and Troy Stellato have entered the transfer portal, joining defensive back Sherrod Covil Jr. as the latest Tigers to explore opportunities elsewhere. Redshirt freshman Noble Johnson’s decision comes after a challenging 2024 season where he recorded three catches for 16 yards and served primarily as a third-team receiver for the ACC Championship Game. Johnson also contributed on special teams and traveled with the team for most away games.

Johnson’s tenure at Clemson was marked by limited playing time and off-field challenges. After redshirting in 2023, he played in nine games during the 2024 season. However, his development was hindered by injuries sustained in a car accident in February, for which he was charged with reckless driving. This incident led to internal discipline and kept him out of spring practice. Despite showing potential as a four-star recruit from Rockwall, Texas, Johnson struggled to secure a significant role in a competitive wide receiver corps. He leaves Clemson with three years of eligibility remaining.

Before his college career, Johnson was a standout at Rockwall High School, where he amassed 101 receptions for 1,739 yards and 14 touchdowns over 26 games. He was ranked as a top-100 receiver in the 2023 recruiting class and chose Clemson over notable programs like Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

The transfer portal opens new opportunities for Johnson and Stellato to find playing time and revitalize their college careers. Meanwhile, Clemson will adjust its roster and continue recruiting efforts to maintain a competitive edge. The transfer window remains open through December 28, allowing more players to make decisions about their future.
