2026 WR Tayveon Wilson commits to Clemson Football to play TE

Clemson Football and head coach Dabo Swinney acquired their fourth player out of the 2026 class with Huntington, West Virginia native Tayveon Wilson committing to the program this past Thursday.

While he is listed and plays the position of wide receiver for Huntington High School, he was recruited and agreed to play tight end for the Tigers. Which isn’t surprising at all when you realize that Wilson is six-foot-three and 205-pounds as a junior in high school.

Wilson is ranked as a three-star, per 247Sports and ranks as the No. 496 player nationally, the No. 75 player at his position and the No. 2 player in the state of West Virginia.

He holds over a dozen other offers and chose Clemson over schools that include, but aren’t limited to: Penn State, Miami and Louisville.

Clemson hosted the recruit earlier this season for a home game versus Stanford. This could have played a crucial part in his decision as he saw Clemson tight ends Jake Briningstool and Olsen Patt-Henry catch a pair of touchdowns in the victory over the Cardinal.

Wilson has been on his high school varsity team since he was only a freshman. While he only mainly played as a punter throughout the season, the fact that he was on varsity as a WR, LB, and P should say enough about his level of talent.

In the 2023 season, he remained at all three positions and came in as a returner at times as well. As a receiver, he had 21 receptions for 511 yards (24.3 ypc) and nine touchdowns in 10 games played. He also ran the ball 11 times for 153 yards and four touchdowns at wide out. Defensively, he recorded 23 total tackles and a forced fumble over the course of eight games.

As a junior, Wilson hauled in 16 passes for 397 yards (24.8 ypc) and seven receiving touchdowns in addition to him running the ball six times for 84 yards and three rushing scores. The six-foot-three Swiss army knife scored three defensive touchdowns and one return touchdown, contributing to the defense and special teams along with his offensive output.
