After visiting to see Clemson dominate Stanford 40-14, DL Makhi Williams-Lee weighed his choices over the next couple days and inevitably flipped his commitment from NC State to Clemson officially this past Wednesday.
The Atlanta native is ranked as the No. 743 player ranked nationally, the No. 82 DL in the nation, and the No. 83 recruit in the state of Georgia. He has 12 other offers from schools including but not limited to: Texas Tech, NC State, Oklahoma and James Madison.
The six-foot-two, 280-pound defensive lineman was offered by NC State back in May and took an official visit to Raleigh, North Carolina over the summer. While he ended up committing to the school a month after his visit; it seemed like Clemson had always been his first option.
I say this due to the fact that Williams-Lee came to Clemson Football’s camp over the summer and left without an offer, however within a week of being offered and extended an unofficial visit by the program, he committed.
In my opinion, the reason as to why they offered him is that they already saw potential in the young lineman but wanted to see how it would translate into his senior season of high school ball, which it absolutely has as he’s already racked up 49 tackles, 12 tackles for a loss, five sacks and a pass deflection through six weeks of play.
While the bullish lineman is a new prospect on most’s radar, Clemson took notice that he’s been putting up these numbers since his breakout junior season where he totaled 77 tackles, 22 tackles for a loss, ten sacks, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
