After a good official visit to Clemson and receiving a crystal-ball prediction the night before his decision, prospect Chase Thompson has committed to Clemson Men’s Basketball and head coach Brad Brownell this past Sunday afternoon.
After competing with the Iowa Hawkeyes for the three-star commit, the Tigers and Brownell finally prevailed. They got a good ball player in Thompson as he’s the No. 171 player nationally, No. 36 player at his position, and No. 3 player in the state of Minnesota.
The six-foot-seven, savvy power forward averaged just under 19 points per game for Alexandria High School and led his team to the state semi-finals in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) 2023 State Class AAA Boys Tournament.
He played for D1 Minnesota in the Adidas 3SSB Circuit over the summer and averaging 20 minutes through nine games played. The Clemson commit averaged 11.2 points, one assist, one steal, and one block per game on 49/37/70 shooting splits. He reminds me a lot of former Clemson star and now-Nuggets power forward, P.J. Hall. Thompson gets to the basket with ease and feasts in the post using his skilled footwork and beautiful touch around the rim. He also can hit threes off the catch and shoot at a solid rate, comparable to Hall.
