For the Clemson football program, they moved up three spots in the AP poll this week to #22 following their convincing win over the Mountaineers. The Wolfpack, though, took it on the chin, losing to Tennessee 51-10. That loss drops N.C. State out of the top 25 of the AP poll and perhaps led to the early start time with the game no longer being a ranked match-up.
Clemson will look to pick up where it left off against App. State when it rolled up 712 total yards behind a career night from junior quarterback Cade Klubnik who completed 24 of 26 passes for 378 yards and accounted for seven total touchdowns.

Through two games, the Tigers are averaging 34.5 points per game and allowing 27. The Wolfpack are scoring at a 24-point clip while giving up an average of 36.

This contest was slated to be among the most anticipated games of the ACC schedule during the preseason. It is still a great opportunity for Clemson football to take early command of one of the top two slots in the league standings when these two long-time foes square off on September 21st.
Clemson and N.C. State have played some instant classic games at Death Valley in the past, including the 2016 contest which the Tigers won in overtime on their way to the national championship.
