Clemson fans have reason to celebrate this week, as junior quarterback Cade Klubnik was named the ACC Co-Quarterback of the Week for his stellar performance in the Tigers’ 66-20 victory over Appalachian State on Saturday.
In just one half of play before exiting the game, Klubnik put up career numbers, completing 24 of 26 passes for 378 yards and 5 touchdowns through the air. He also added two rushing touchdowns, accounting for 7 total scores. His 277.9 pass efficiency rating broke the Clemson single-game record (min. 20 attempts) previously held by Tajh Boyd.

Cade Klubnik Numbers
Klubnik’s prolific and efficient outing was historic on many levels. He became the first Clemson QB responsible for 7 total touchdowns in a game since Boyd in 2011 vs NC State. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Klubnik was also the first FBS quarterback in the last 25 years to throw for 5+ TDs, rush for multiple TDs, and complete over 90% of his passes in a single game.

The ACC weekly honor is the first of Klubnik’s young career, though he was previously named MVP of last season’s ACC Championship Game. It marks the 579th ACC weekly honor for a Clemson player since 1968.
After an impressive showing in their home opener vs Appalachian State, Klubnik and the 1-1 Tigers will have this coming weekend off before hosting ACC foe NC State on September 21st. Expectations will be high among the Clemson faithful for the talented signal-caller to build off his record-setting performance.
