Clemson Gets Boost in Latest 2024 ACC Championship Odds After FSU Loss

Clemson football did not enter the 2024 season as the favorite to win the ACC championship. Without even playing a game, the Tigers’ odds have increased exponentially.

Georgia Tech upset the Seminoles on a field goal as time expired last Saturday in Dublin, Ireland, and the ramifications of that kick are being felt on the other side of the Atlantic. Depending on the outlet, Clemson entered the 2024 season with either the second or third highest odds to win the conference title. With the Seminoles’ defeat, the Tigers are now projected as the favorite.

Per CFB Kings, Clemson’s odds to win the ACC are now 23.2 percent, which is a 3.9 percent jump from last weekend. Louisville is projected with the second highest odds at 14 percent with Miami third at 10.6 percent. Florida State now sits fifth at 9.5 percent odds after dropping 16.7 percentage points.

Georgia Tech, whose upset greatly benefit the Tigers, jumped from a one percent chance to win the conference to a 7.9 percent chance, the largest increase given by oddsmakers.

The situation is eerily similar to what Clemson experienced in 2023 by losing their first conference game. The Tigers were forced to play catch-up and ultimately fell out of the race after losses to Florida State, Miami, and NC State after being downed by Duke in the season opener.

Perhaps the script has flipped in 2024, and Clemson can take advantage of the Seminoles’ misstep and claim the ACC crown for the eighth time in the past 10 seasons.
