The Allstate Sugar Bowl announced today that Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2024 Manning Award. The award, named after the accomplished Manning family of quarterbacks, is presented annually to the top quarterback in the nation after the conclusion of the postseason.
Klubnik, a junior, is one of 29 quarterbacks from across the country to be named to the watch list. He is joined by four other ACC signal callers: Thomas Castellanos (Boston College), Kyron Drones (Virginia Tech), Haynes King (Georgia Tech), and Preston Stone (SMU).
The Austin, Texas native is coming off a strong sophomore campaign where he established himself as the Tigers’ starter. Expectations are high for Klubnik and the Clemson offense heading into the 2024 season under second-year offensive coordinator Garrett Riley.
In addition to the Manning Award, Klubnik was also named to the watch lists for the Maxwell Award, given to the best all-around player in college football, and the Davey O’Brien Award for the nation’s top quarterback.
The winner of the Manning Award will be selected by a voting panel that includes national media and Archie, Peyton, and Eli Manning after the conclusion of the postseason bowl games. The formal presentation of the award will take place in New Orleans.
Klubnik’s inclusion on the Manning Award watch list further solidifies his status as one of the top quarterbacks to watch in college football for the 2024 season. The Tigers open their campaign on August 31 against the Georgia Bulldogs.
