Clemson Basketball has extended its twelfth offer to a rising three-star combo guard from Washington D.C., Omari Witherspoon, in the 2025 class.
The six-foot-four, 185-pound guard recently transferred and played for the No. 37 high school in the country, St. John’s, for his junior year. While I couldn’t find his full statistics, he seems to be exceeding in his time there as he is a very efficient scorer, having an effective field goal percentage of 55 and a two-point field goal percentage of 61.3. He also shows great potential as a defender on the court, averaging almost two steals per game. He finished the year being named to 1st Team All-WCAC (Washington Catholic Athletic Conference), 1st Team All-DCSAA (DC State Athletic Association), and 2nd Team All-MET (Metropolitan).
In addition, Witherspoon has gained a lot of traction by tapping into his upside and winning over high-major programs this past summer while playing AAU ball in the Under Armour Next Circuit for DC Premier 17U. Despite the fact that he is currently only a three-star, I expect Witherspoon to be one of the highest combo guard risers in the class of 2025 as he’s already received ten offers just this summer.
In 15 games played with DC Premier, Witherspoon is averaging 14.5 points, three assists, four rebounds, and two steals; leading his team in points, assists, and steals. While his shooting numbers are lower than expected at 41% from the field and 28% from three, it’s not something to be worried about as it’s just AAU and he’s the number one option. He has proven he can be much more efficient in a better team setting as his efficiency numbers were great during the high school season, where he was a starter for a nationally ranked team who went to the State Championship.
While Clemson just got started on their recruitment of Witherspoon, West Virginia, Maryland, Butler, and Virginia Tech have all already scheduled official visits for the rising three-star talent so expect to see more of the DC product in the coming months.
