The defensive line unit for the class of 2025 is already looking dominant with four-star defensive tackle Isaiah Campbell committing back in January of this year, but look to implement another top-ranked recruit with their most recent commitment.
Bryce Davis, a top 10 defensive end in the country and the No. 59 overall prospect, per 247Sports, had been flipped and crystal-balled to play for Clemson around a week ago after originally being projected to commit to the Georgia Bulldogs. While nothing was sure, it was looking very good for Clemson fans, but all anyone could do was wait.
“Just the way coach Swinney operates his program I mean he’s really genuine about it and he’s not willing to change that for anybody and I can respect that.”
Bryce Davis
The wait officially came to an end this past Saturday afternoon as Davis sat at a table with only four hats on it: Clemson, Georgia, Duke, and South Carolina. He picked up the Georgia hat, only to put it down and soon raise the Clemson hat atop his head, announcing his commitment.
The No. 1 Edge in North Carolina shows a great first-step, good hands, and an advanced technique, seeming to be ahead of the curve for his age. In his sophomore season, Davis played in 14 games and recorded 85 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 12 sacks; leading his team to the fourth round of the North Carolina 4A playoffs. Poised for a great junior season, the six-foot-three, 245-pound defensive end was limited in play due to a knee injury, forcing him to play just two games. However, he still totaled 17 tackles, three sacks, and six tackles for loss in the small sample size. Davis now looks to explode for his final season in high school, especially after being held back last year.
With Davis now committing, all four of the highest-ranked commits for Clemson’s 2025 recruiting class are apart of the defensive line unit. Davis sits at the fourth spot, Ari Watford sits at the third spot, Isaiah Campbell sits second, and Amare Adams, a top 35 prospect, sits at the No. 1 spot for the highest-ranked recruit in the class. All in all, this defensive line unit, from interior to edges, will be dominant in the foreseeable future.
