Clemson basketball alumni begin NBA Summer League

Many missed the Clemson basketball duo of Hunter Tyson and PJ Hall in years past, but on Friday night, Tiger fans were able to witness them back in action together once again.

The two are featured on the Denver Nuggets’ Summer League team, which began in Las Vegas on Friday night. Despite the team’s loss against the Los Angeles Clippers, the two former Tigers were able to put on solid performances.

For Tyson, who begins his second year with the team, he added 15 points and two rebounds while making two 3-pointers in the loss. He played almost 30 minutes as well, being one of the main guys, along with forward Julian Strawther and guard Jalen Pickett, as the experienced players on the roster.

Meanwhile, in his first NBA Summer League game, PJ Hall scored 10 points of his own while grabbing four rebounds. One of the more exciting plays for the Nuggets occurred from Hall, who caught a pass from Strawther in the paint with one hand and dished it out instantly to DaRon Holmes II, who sank a corner three.

Despite an 88-78 loss on Friday night, the two will hope to bring more wins to Denver with four games remaining in the “regular season” of the competition, with other games potentially in the mix if they make the playoffs.

The Nuggets will be back in action against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night, which features a familiar face to many Clemson fans: Joseph Girard III.
