Director of Clemson Athletics, Graham Neff, recently shared a comprehensive overview of the school’s athletic achievements during the 2022-23 season.
The letter, addressed to the Clemson Family, underscores the remarkable success of the university’s sports programs and the dedication of its student-athletes.
One of the most notable highlights was the significant increase in home attendance across all sports, which grew by more than 20% year-over-year. This surge in fan engagement and support led to Clemson ending the season ranked in the top 15 nationally in attendance for six different sports.
On the field, Clemson’s teams excelled, winning four ACC Championships for the first time in 25 years. Additionally, four sports advanced to the NCAA Elite Eights or better, a feat not achieved since the 1979-80 season. The men’s program, in particular, claimed its second National Championship in three years.
Clemson’s success extended to multiple sports, with NCAA Postseason Appearances in Men’s Basketball, Softball, Baseball, Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Golf, Gymnastics, Men’s and Women’s Indoor and Outdoor Track, and Women’s Cross Country. The university was also one of only two schools in the nation to win a Football bowl game, advance to the Elite Eight in Men’s Basketball, and win a Regional in Baseball.
Off the field, Clemson student-athletes demonstrated their commitment to academic excellence and community service. The Athletic Department leads the nation among public Power Five institutions in Graduation Success Rate (GSR) with a 97 percent mark for the 2013-16 cohort. Ten programs set records with a perfect 100 percent GSR. Moreover, Clemson student-athletes completed more than 3,200 community service hours.
Looking ahead, the 2024-25 season will mark the 50th year of varsity women’s athletics at Clemson, providing an opportunity to celebrate this significant milestone in the university’s history.
