Clemson Softball will be graduating a whopping 10 seniors from the team of 2024. With all of that lost production, John Rittman and company need to refill in some key areas – in some ways through recruiting, and in others with the transfer portal. The Tigers were able to get two so far in the form of utility player Reese Basinger, of Winthrop, and outfielder Jamison Brockenbrough, of Tennessee.
Basinger will remember Clemson well, having played the Tigers every year since being at Winthrop. For the Eagles, Reese held a 2.16 ERA in 87 appearances, including 431 career strikeouts that she’ll carry over to her senior year. Against the Tigers last season, she went 4.0 innings giving up no earned runs and 4 Ks.
Brockenbrough will join the Tigers as a junior, leaving the SEC-champion volunteers for a different shade of orange. Relegated to a backup in 2024, “Jams” Freshman season was full of promise. She started 44 games, breaking out onto the scene with her massive postseason run, hitting .306 and coming up clutch in key moments for Tennessee.
Both players will be key in replacing the storied 2024 Clemson Softball class, looking to bolster both hitting and fielding help, as well as more reliable arms in the bullpen.
