Clemson Freshman focus is the name of the game for the Tigers in 2024.
Clemson football has been trying to climb back to the top of the college football world since their last trip to the play-offs in 2020. With a trio of all-world freshmen on board for 2024, head coach Dabo Swinney and company feel like the time is now.
247Sports has listed three Clemson true freshman players among its top 100 true freshmen in the country for the upcoming season. Linebacker Sammy Brown and wide receivers Bryant Wesco and T.J. Moore made the cut. All three will be counted on to produce right out of the gate for the Tigers.
Brown was a consensus 5-star recruit out of Jefferson, GA and a two-way star for Jefferson High School. He was rated as high as the number five overall recruit in the nation, and the top linebacker in the 2024 class. Brown immediately stood out during the Clemson spring game, and many pundits across college football expect him to make a day one impact.
Bryan Wesco is another of Clemson’s talented newcomers. The freshman wide receiver, like Brown, was an early enrollee and caught the eye of fans and experts alike during the spring. Wesco made a spectacular touchdown grab during the spring game, and his combination of elite speed and pass-catching ability should add a needed dynamic element to the Tigers’ passing game.
The final of the Tigers’ three freshmen to make the 247Sports list is wide receiver T.J. Moore. Moore, who played his high school ball for Tampa Catholic, was a Sunshine State star. Moore was not an early enrollee but is now on campus and getting up to speed.
Moore is a big body on the outside, but also possesses speed and the ability to win 50/50 balls which could prove a nice compliment to Wesco. A Clemson passing game that has stagnated over the past several seasons can do nothing but benefit from the presence of Wesco and Moore.
National media outlets have downplayed Clemson as a play-off and national championship threat in the lead-up to the 2024 season. But the Tigers are confident in themselves and with three of the country’s most talented youngsters on board, a freshman focus in Death Valley in 2024 could very well help Clemson take the final step back to the top.
