Clemson Linebacker position group ranked No. 1 by PFF analyst

The buzz continues for Clemson linebacker group, who have recently been ranked the No. 1 linebacker group in the country, according to a college football analyst.

According to Max Chadwick, an analyst for Pro Football Focus, the Tigers took the top spot the second consecutive year on Chadwick’s list, beating out teams like Iowa, Kentucky, Georgia and LSU.

Four teams from the SEC and Big 10 each took eight total spots. There was no other ACC team mentioned on the list.

The analyst wrote in detail about the importance of Barrett Carter to the position group, marking that “no returning Power FIve linebacker has been more valuable than Carter according to PFF’s wins above-average metric.”

Chadwick also speaks on the importance of Wade Woodaz and Kobe McCloud, who is estimated to be the starting linebacker for Jeremiah Trotter Jr., who left this offseason to go to the NFL Draft. Sammy Brown’s name is also mentioned.

With the importance of Carter, the upside of Woodaz or the potential a player like McCloud or Brown can bring to the linebacker room, defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin has plenty to work with for this upcoming season.
