Blake Wright Caps Stellar Clemson Career with All-America Nod

Clemson senior infielder Blake Wright added one final accolade to his impressive collegiate resume, being named a third-team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) on Friday. Wright became the 69th player in Clemson history to earn All-America status, joining teammates Cam Cannarella and Aidan Knaak as the Tigers’ three All-Americans in 2024. Cannarella and Knaak were also recognized as All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), further highlighting Clemson’s talented roster.

A semifinalist for both the Dick Howser Trophy and Golden Spikes Award, Wright split time between third base and second base in his final season. The Belleair, Florida native hit .340 with 10 doubles, two triples, 22 home runs, 75 RBIs, 68 runs scored and a .652 slugging percentage, starting all 60 games for the Tigers in 2024. He led the team in nearly every offensive category.

Wright’s stellar senior campaign capped off a productive Clemson career in which he hit .303 with 209 hits, 42 home runs and 165 RBIs across four seasons. He was a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection, demonstrating excellence both on the field and in the classroom.

Wright’s 2024 season was filled with memorable moments and accolades. He was named ACC Player of the Week on two occasions, recognizing his consistent excellence throughout the year. In a game against Presbyterian, Wright etched his name in the Clemson record books by blasting three home runs and driving in six runs, tying a school single-game record. Additionally, he put together an impressive 10-game streak in March where he recorded at least one run, hit, and RBI in each contest, showcasing his ability to impact the game in multiple ways.

Wright’s leadership and production played a key role in Clemson’s success, as the Tigers reached the NCAA Super Regionals before falling to Florida in a hard-fought extra inning contest.

“It was an unbelievable game, probably one of the best I’ve ever been a part of,” Wright said after the season-ending loss. “I think Clemson baseball is back on the right path.”

With his All-America selection, Blake Wright secures his place among the all-time Clemson greats. His combination of offensive prowess, slick fielding, and leadership helped the Tigers return to national prominence. As he moves on to the next chapter of his baseball journey, Tiger fans will fondly remember Wright’s many contributions to the program over the past four years.
