Tigers Excited for the Tournament: Clemson Baseball Projections for 2024 NCAA Regionals

The Tigers will not have to wait much longer.

The matchups for the 2024 NCAA Baseball Tournament are set to be revealed on Monday, and Clemson is anxiously waiting to see who they will be paired with in their opening regional which they are expected to host at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

There was initial speculation that the Tigers could have been paired with their most heated rival. In fact, per D1 Baseball, their early projections had three of the four teams in the Clemson regional residing in the state of South Carolina, the Tigers, of course, among them.

Per Kendall Rogers of D1 baseball, he had the Tigers’ regional comprised of Clemson, College of Charleston, Samford, and the University of South Carolina. However, D1 has since changed their outlook and placed SEC foe Florida, San Diego, and Bryant University in the Clemson regional.

Certainly, that would be an eclectic mix of teams traveling to Tiger Town, and a trio of opponents that Clemson should feel good about their chances against.

Clemson is projected as the number six overall seed nationally. The top eight national seeds will be revealed at 8 p.m. on Sunday night with the rest of the field being announced 24 hours later on Memorial Day.

The Tigers finished the regular season with a 40-13 overall record and with the number two seed entering the ACC Tournament. Clemson has relied heavily on a bullish line-up that is among the most powerful in the nation. The Tigers hope that offensive prowess will serve them well during the tournament.

Of course, these are all just projections ahead of Monday’s selections, and nobody will know for sure who will play where until it is all set in stone. Clemson is coming off a quick exit in the ACC Tournament following an 8-7 loss to Miami in the opening game. The Tigers did rebound and rally over Louisville 8-7 the next day but failed to advance past pool play.

Still, Clemson should have their pitching staff rested and lined up which bodes better for not repeating last year’s history when the Tigers hosted a regional only to fall to Tennessee before being eliminated from the tournament by Charlotte.

All eyes will be on the selection committee on Monday, and no matter who is placed in front of Clemson, the Tigers will be ready to make a run to Omaha.
