Clemson basketball lands first commit of 2025 class

Clemson basketball picked up their first player of the 2025 cycle, picking up power forward Trent Steinour. It was first reported by Joe Tipton with On3 on Thursday afternoon.

A 6-foot-10 forward from Mooresville, North Carolina, Steinour is the 13th-ranked player from the state of North Carolina and the 36th ranked power forward in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.

The new Clemson commit chose the Tigers over Georgia, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and South Carolina, among others.

The 3-star recruit averaged 15.7 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, adding 4.3 blocks in his junior season at Lake Norman High School.

Steinour will add plenty of rim protection to Littlejohn Coliseum, while also being a threat at the rim offensively. With a knack for shooting threes at his height, Steinour could also bring a stretch-big presence to the Tigers when he joins in the 2025-2026 season.

Head coach Brad Brownell will hope that Steinour is the first of many commits for the 2025 class, who had three in the previous cycle that are set to join the squad this summer.
