Former Clemson baseball coach Jack Leggett enters South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame

On Monday night, the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame honored former Clemson baseball coach Jack Leggett as one of ten honorees to join the prestigious group of coaches, players and contributors who have impacted the Palmetto State.

Leggett joins the likes of former Clemson golfer Lucas Glover and South Carolina cornerback Marshon Lattimore in this year’s class, with seven others also recognized.

The coach was honored for his tenure as head coach of the Clemson baseball team from 1994-2015, winning 955 games through his 21 years as the Tigers manager.

Clemson vs Notre Dame: On Saturday, there will be a pregame ceremony at Clemson Baseball to retire the #7 jersey of former Head Coach Jack Leggett.

He won over 1,300 games as head coach of three different teams, having stints at Vermont and Western Carolina.

Leggett brought the team to new heights, making six College World Series appearances throughout his tenure with the Tigers.

He made 23 NCAA Tournament appearances and won three ACC Coach of the Year awards. While he was head coach of Clemson, the team was the seventh-winningest program in the country.

After the hiring of current head coach Erik Bakich, he decided to bring back Jack Leggett as an assistant coach, adding veteran experience to the dugout for the last two seasons.

Last season, his infamous No. 7 number was retired at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

The job is not finished for Leggett, however, who will help to provide his experience in the postseason to help the Tigers get back to the College World Series after the regular season concluded this past weekend.
