Clemson basketball guard enters transfer portal

The fourth Clemson basketball player has entered the transfer portal.

On Thursday night, guard Alex Hemenway entered the portal to use his final year of eligibility elsewhere. It was first reported by On3 Sports.

Alex Hemenway

A consistent contributor to the Tigers, Hemenway averaged 5.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. The 6-foot-4 guard was an incredible asset from beyond the arc, shooting 42.9% from 3-point range throughout his five years with the Tigers.

While providing a great option for head coach Brad Brownell over the last few years, the graduate only featured in five games for Clemson this season, battling a leg injury throughout most of the season. A player who has suffered many injuries throughout his collegiate career, he suffered something similar in the 2022-2023 season, he had plantar fasciitis that sidelined him down the stretch.

Hemenway joins Josh Beadle, Jack Clark and RJ Godfrey as the three other Tigers who have entered the transfer portal in the offseason. Two guards and two forwards have left Brownell’s squad in the last month, coming off of a season which saw one of its best finishes in program history.

With one more year of eligibility, the guard will hope to find success at the collegiate level elsewhere.
