The Clemson baseball team got a nice win Tuesday night against a scrappy Winthrop team that gave them a little bit of a scare early.
Billy Barlow was solid but not great against a light-hitting lineup, but he was good enough. Matt Marchal got the win for the Tigers.
Will Taylor and Blake Wright led the charge offensively for the Tigers combining for 7 of the 13 RBIs.
The Tigers came off of a tough, hard-fought weekend series with Duke to win what otherwise could have been considered a “trap game.”
Up next is the second meeting of the year versus Presbyterian College, but this time at Fluor Field in Greenville. The game is scheduled to start at 6PM.
Clemson Briefly:
Clemson is now 18-2 through the first third of the season. An impressive start for the club.
Blake Wright and Will Taylor led the offensive charge as both players seem to be heating up at the right time.
Clemson’s Bullpen was outstanding again in the midweek. The score was likely the main driver for some of the arms that Bakich threw, but guys like Jacob McGovern, Nathan Dvorsky, Chance Fitzgerald and Luke Brown all contributed to Tuesday nights victory over Winthrop.
The Tigers beat Presbyterian on 2/20 by a score of 8-2.

STARTING PITCHING
NAME (Jersey #) | Year/Hand | ‘24 Statistics |

Christian Charalambous (34) | Freshman/LHP | 0-0; 4.70 ERA; 7.2 IP; 7 K, 3 BB; OppBA: .233 |
Presbyterian announced Freshman lefty Christian Charalmbous will start the game. The New Jersey native has appeared in 5 games on the season for the Blue Hose.
As a pitching staff, Presbyterian has a 3.73 ERA, 16th in the country through 20 games, while opponents are hitting .239 against the Blue Hose. They’ve surrendered 34 2Bs, 6 3B, and 14 HRs as a staff.
The Tigers have one more mid-week before the huge series against undefeated Florida State over the weekend. The Blue Hose pitching staff has been impressive, hopefully the Tigers stay hot and patient at the plate to put stress on a top 20 pitching staff nationally.
