Clemson Gymnastics Secure 2nd Seed as they Head to Greensboro

The Clemson Gymnastics will head to Greensboro on Saturday, March 23rd for the Tigers’ first conference tourney.  The tourney will begin with the Tigers having the 2 seed.  The Tigers lost only to N.C. State on the season and finished with a winning record of 3-2 in the ACC on the year.  The Tigers have posted scores of 196.2 or above in their last three meets. Those types of scores would give Clemson Gymnastics a great chance to bring home a trophy from Greensboro.

The Tigers have owned the floor this season coming in at 19th nationally.  They routinely put up 9.9’s or above in the event.  Bri Clark put up a 9.95 at the last meet, which many, including one judge, believed should have been a 10.  That performance along with her career high 9.925 on the beam, garnered Brie her 2nd Specialist of the Week honor.

The Tigers are ranked 27th in the nation coming into the conference tourney.  Only N.C state is ranked higher in the conference.  Just to provide a little symmetry Rebecca Wells, the Tigers star all around gymnast, also comes in ranked 27th individually.

Rebecca Wells is 2nd in the ACC posting an average all around score of 39.281.  Just .137 away from first place.  She has consistently put scores of 9.8 or better the entire month of February onward.

You would have to believe N.C. State is Clemson’s biggest threat in this meet.  The Wolfpack have already defeated the Tigers once and this would be a great opportunity for payback.  With the Clemson gymnasts on a roll we could be looking at an ACC title in year 1.

The Clemson Gymnasts team travels across the country for their final regular season meet. They will face #11 UCLA, Sunday at 5pm Eastern.
