On Feb. 29, the ACC announced all of the in-conference matchups for next season’s men’s college basketball schedule, allowing Clemson fans to see who is coming to Littlejohn Coliseum next year.
The Tigers will play every team in the conference at least once, with three — Florida State, Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech — being a home and away matchup.
The biggest headlines for next season’s Littlejohn schedule are the ACC blue bloods, North Carolina and Duke, who will each play their respective game against Clemson in the Upstate next season. With both these teams traditionally playing at a top-25 level each year, expect at least two nationally acclaimed squads in Clemson next season.
Other notable names include Wake Forest, Syracuse and Notre Dame, who will all play a game at Littlejohn Coliseum next season. Syracuse is the only one of the three to play the Tigers in their respective gym this season.
With three new teams, California, Stanford and SMU, all joining the ACC for their first season in the next academic year, Clemson will face two of them at home. The Tigers will not have to worry about traveling to the West Coast just yet, as the Golden Bears and Cardinal will play at Clemson.
SMU, on the other hand, will play their first game against the Tigers as in-conference opponents in Texas next season.
Other featured away opponents are Virginia, Pittsburgh, NC State, Boston College, Miami and Louisville.
Despite the controversy around the number of games being played in conferences across the ACC and other prominent leagues, as stated by Clemson’s head coach Brad Brownell at one point, the schedule will continue to feature 20 ACC matchups per season.
Dates have not been announced for any of these games, as they will be announced later on this year. Out-of-conference matchups have not been announced either.
