Clemson is signing a pair of highly regarded offensive lineman in the 2024 recruiting class. Ronan O’Connell and Watson Young are both three-star prospects who will have the chance to begin learning immediately under new offensive line coach Matt Luke, one of the best position coaches in the country.
Ronan O’Connell
O’Connell was the first offensive line commitment in the 2024 class. The 6-foot-4-inch, 290-pound O’Connell comes to Clemson from Franklin, Tennessee’s Fred. J. Page High School. Rated as high as the number 32 offensive tackle in the country by Rivals, O’Connell committed to the Tigers on July 4th, 2023.
His list of offers included Auburn, Arkansas, Boston College and Cincinnati among others.
Watson Young
The Tigers’ second offensive line commitment is that of Watson Young. The Central, SC native and Daniel High School standout was originally committed to Appalachian State before flipping his pledge to Clemson on December 3rd. A three-star prospect, Young is rated as high as the number 13 recruit in the state of South Carolina and the 56th-best interior lineman in the class by ESPN.
Young was a 2023 Mr. Football Finalist and Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas Selection and helped lead Daniel to their third state championship in the past four seasons. He is a Clemson legacy, and his uncle Will Young, himself a former Clemson standout on the offensive line, is the head coach at Greer High School.
Welcome to Clemson, Ronan and Watson.
