The Tigers have always been known for their fierce defense, and Clemson’s 2024 recruiting class is no exception. The class, which currently ranks 15th according to 247’s composite rankings, is highlighted by two promising linebackers, Sammy Brown, Drew Woodaz, and CJ Kubah-Taylor.
Sammy Brown: A Five-Star Recruit
Sammy Brown, a five-star recruit, is the top inside linebacker for the Class of 2024. Ranked as the 17th overall player in the ESPN 300, Brown has the potential to make a significant impact on the Tigers’ defense. His decision to commit to Clemson was a major win for the team, as he chose the Tigers over other powerhouse programs like Georgia and Ohio State.
Sammy Brown’s senior year at Jefferson High School he was a key player on the Jefferson Varsity Football team. At 6’3″ and 230 lbs, he dominates on both offense and defense as a linebacker and running back. But his impressive stats don’t stop there. Sammy can bench an astounding 395 lbs, squat 600 lbs, and has a 40-yard dash time of 4.4 seconds. His defensive statistics are impressive in 14 games, with 153 total tackles, 12.0 tackles for loss (TFL), and 2 INTs. In fact, in the second game of the season against Wren, Sammy had his best performance yet with 17 total tackles and 1.0 TFL.
Brown is expected to bring strength, speed, and agility to Clemson’s linebacker corps. His signing with the Tigers is viewed as a crucial addition to the 2024 recruiting class. Fans and analysts alike are eagerly looking forward to seeing how Brown will enhance the Tigers’ defense in the coming seasons.
Drew Woodaz: A Solid Addition
Drew Woodaz, a three-star recruit, is another standout in Clemson’s 2024 recruiting class. While he may not have the same star power as Brown, Woodaz brings his own unique set of skills to the table. He has shown great potential during his high school career, making him a solid addition to the Tigers’ linebacker group.
Drew Woodaz had an outstanding senior season at Jesuit High School. At an imposing height of 6’3″ and a solid weight of 185 lbs, Woodaz is a force on the field. He played in 12 games and made 55 solo tackles and 28 assisted tackles, making for a total of 83 tackles and also managed to recover three fumbles, snag three interceptions, and had three tackles for loss (TFL).
Woodaz, who is part of the 2024 class alongside Brown, is expected to bring youthful energy and tenacity to the Tigers’ defense. His commitment to Clemson showcases the depth of talent in the 2024 recruiting class and further strengthens the Tigers’ linebacker corps.
CJ Kubah-Taylor: Final Lineback Added
CJ Kubah-Taylor, a linebacker from Olney, MD, is a force to be reckoned with on the field. Standing tall at 6-3 and weighing in at 220 pounds, CJ’s size and athleticism make him a dominant presence on the gridiron. In high school, CJ played for Good Counsel where he demonstrated his exceptional skills as a linebacker. It’s no surprise that Clemson secured his commitment on 12-19-2023. His rankings as a three-star prospect from ESPN and Rivals, along with his 24/7 ranking as the #126 linebacker, prove that CJ is a talented player.
An Exciting Future for Clemson’s Defense
Clemson’s 2024 recruiting class, particularly the addition of linebackers Sammy Brown, Drew Woodaz, and CJ Kubah-Taylor, signals an exciting future for the Tigers’ defense. With the return of Barrett Carter in 2024, the Tigers’ linebacker room is expected to be loaded with talent.
