2025 Running Back Marquise Henderson Commits to Clemson

Less than 24 hours after receiving an offer from the Tigers, 2025 running back Marquise Henderson of Belton-Honea Path High School committed to Clemson.

Henderson announced his decision via X (formerly Twitter) on Monday morning.

Henderson is rated as the number 2 overall recruit in the state of South Carolina for the 2025 recruiting cycle, just behind South Florence defensive lineman Amare Adams who pledged to the Tigers last week. Both are four-star recruits and their commitments held Dabo Swinney keep the best Palmetto State talent at home.

Clemson was among a number of Power 5 recruits that offered Henderson, with Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Vanderbilt, and Boston College being among his other suitors. South Carolina never extended an offer to Henderson, and there were reports that the Gamecocks’ staff wanted him to put on an additional 20-25 pounds. A curious request if true, considering Henderson’s greatest attributes are his speed and vision.

In a monster junior season for Belton-Honea Path, Henderson led the Bears to the Class 3A state semifinals before falling to eventual state champion Daniel. In total, he rushed for over 2,300 yards and 37 touchdowns, and has rushed for over 4,500 yards in two varsity seasons.

Henderson joins five-star running back Gideon Davidson from Virginia as the Tigers’ two backfield commits for the 2025 cycle.
