Big news on the recruiting trail today as Clemson has received a commitment from 2025 four-star defensive lineman Amare Adams out of South Florence High School. Adams is the number one player in South Carolina and a top 70 player nationally. Adams is the fifth commit for Clemson‘s 2025 recruiting class and becomes the first defensive player to join an already loaded top 10 class for 2025. This is a major win for Clemson as Adams was considered a heavy South Carolina lean throughout his entire recruiting process.
This recruitment was pointing in the Gamecocks direction until late this week when Clemson seemed to come out of nowhere to nab a commitment from Adams. This commitment adds to a stellar résumé from Clemson defensive line coach, Nick Eason. He continues to recruit the defensive line position at a high level and has shown a great ability to develop young, defensive linemen, such as TJ Parker and Peter Woods. This is also a very big in-state win as South Carolina landed a lot of the state’s top prospects in the 2024 class. Adams has offers for many of the top programs in the country. His list includes Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Ohio State, Tennessee, UCF, Virginia Tech, and South Carolina.
Adams measures 6‘ 6“ and just a bit over 290 pounds. He has the ideal build for a defensive lineman and he had a stellar junior season. Although South Florence lost in the state championship game, on Saturday, Adams is poised to have a great senior season.
So what does this commitment mean for the Tigers 2025 class? Adams joins two other top 100 players in the class in four-star running back, Gideon Davidson, and four-star quarterback, Blake Herbert. He also joins the 10th-best interior offense lineman in the country, Easton Ware, and the 10th-best tight end in the country, Logan Brooking. The 2025 class is looking to continue the positive recruiting momentum that the 2024 class has created with top players, such as Sammy Brown, Bryant Wesco, and TJ Moore. Also, the recent coaching changes have not led to a negative impact on the trail, as Clemson looks to add a new offensive line coach and defensive end coach.
Adams totaled 67 tackles and 11 tackles for loss along with four sacks in his junior season. From watching his film, Adams brings an elite pass-rushing ability from the defensive tackle position, and he also can stop the run. He has good footwork and an explosive first step off the line, and there is no doubt Nick Eason will be able to develop him and have him ready to play a key role for the Tigers once he steps on campus.
This is a big win for Clemson, especially to be able to snag a prospect right out of the hands of your in-state rival. This will no doubt help Clemson‘s ability to recruit in-state as Adams will be an immediate impact player for the Tigers.
What’s next for Clemson on the trail? The Tigers will continue to add to their 2025 class, and they also look to put the finishing touches on their 2024 recruiting class. A player to keep an eye out for, Tiger fans, is four-star offensive lineman, Elyjah Thurmond. The Tigers look to add another offensive lineman in the 2024 class and also might look to the transfer portal to have more depth at the position. Another player to keep an eye out for is four-star linebacker, Bradley Shaw. Clemson is in a close fight for the Alabama prospect and he would be a very big addition to this class. But for now, the Tigers have landed one of the top defensive linemen in the 2025 class in Amare Adams.
