Clemson’s head coach, Dabo Swinney held his weekly press conference Tuesday morning to discuss the upcoming game between Clemson vs. Florida Atlantic University. Swinney, known for his direct and exciting press conferences, gave insight into his team and answered questions about his team’s performance leading up to this season’s game.
Swinney gave his thoughts on competing against Florida Atlantic University, stating, “Really dangerous team coming this weekend (FAU).” He also noted that the Florida Atlantic team has run a lot of trick plays, including double passes and reverses. According to Swinney, they have a quarterback who previously played for Texas and Nebraska so he will not be rattled by the Clemson defense. Coach Swinney continued by saying this will be one of the biggest offensive lines the defense will face this year. Everyone on the line is over 300 pounds.
During the press conference, Swinney updated the media on the injury status of Misun Kelly (Tink) and Cole Turner. He stated, “Tink and Cole Turner will be back this week, Cole will be available and Tink will be there if we need to use him.” Exciting news for Tiger fans, as both players are key contributors to the team’s success. Swinney also, said Andrew Mukuba is day-to-day.
“Vic Burley is back at practice today, full pads today, and shells tomorrow so we will evaluate him and see where he is ”

Creating turnovers is something Swinney wants his team to focus on more. “Gotta create more turnovers,” Swinney stated. “We got one this week, and needed two to be even with committing turnovers to creating turnovers.” The coach emphasized the importance of winning the turnover margin, stating, “You’re not gonna be a good football team if you don’t win the turnover margin.” – Dabo Swinney
With Clemson’s recent struggles on special teams, Swinney addressed concerns about a botched snap on fourth down. “I got on the team about that snap,” Swinney said. He emphasized the importance of not turning the ball over and noted that it has been a point of emphasis in practice this week.
“He will fumble a snap again in his career, that’s football,” Swinney said. “But the play on 4th and 8, and the throwaway attempt can’t happen again.”
