The Tigers, looking to lick their wounds after a tough defeat to Duke on Labor Day came out of the gates strong…and then…ugh.
Here are some streaming thoughts about the first half of action between Clemson and Charleston Southern:

Clemson lost the toss; Charleston Southern deferred; Clemson received.
- Charleston Southern either does not have a great placekicker or they’re trying to keep it away from Shipley
- Clunky, but overall an efficient first drive. Cade Klubnik has time, Will Shipley running hard.
- Tried one downfield throw to Adam Randall, incomplete.
- Short, stop routes, outs, swing passes seem to in play, trying to get Cade in rhythm.
- Nice throw to Antonio Williams for a touchdown
Clemson defense looked really sharp.
- Charleston Southern came out throwing, blanket coverage by Wiggins
- CSU trying misdirection, no room to run.
- Their offense is not great, but good enough to score on a sudden change at the 1.
- Onside kicks? I told you the verdict is still out on the Bucs kicker
Just when I thought Cade was getting in rhythm, throws across field, picked, to the house…ugh
Troy Stellato sighting?…TWICE!
Clemson defense still looks tough. Another 3 and out. Certainly looks like Charleston Southern is going to have to do something special to score on this defense.
Tyler Brown! Found a new kick returner. Pancaked a gunner, that’s not supposed to happen.
Sorry to all the schools that get more love, but the Clemson RB pairing of Shipley and Mafah are special. Mafah with a TD.
XT! OMG! Nearly picked a handoff and then sack where he was a bullet off the edge.

Ok, early in the 2nd Quarter Klubnik starting to really get in rhythm, for real this time.
Maybe I was wrong about Charleston Southern moving the ball… Midway through 2nd, they infiltrate Clemson territory. Nate Wiggins immediately sacks Bartalo.
Charleston Southern trying a field goal…Fake possible?…Nope. Maybe the PK can actually kick. 2-2 on the season, long of 44, this one from 41.
21-17 Clemson 7:01 left in the first half…
Just when I thought Klubnik was in rhythm, he missed Jake Briningstool wide open behind the defense, throws a swing to Shipley, then commits a grounding penalty. Tough drive for the Tigers there.
Defense returned, had yet another great drive. Score is not indicative of their play today at all.
Dabo always talks about complimentary football. Defense and special teams are playing well early. Offense has had her moments, but when they’ve failed, they’ve failed big. (fumble returned to the 1, Pick 6…)
Feels like 9 needs to be more involved in the passing game, he’s such a mismatch…on cue, catches the opening pass to the Tigers late 2nd quarter drive.
Klubnik using his legs, gets horse-collared. Really good read on the RPO there.
Phil Mafah runs hard.
Charleston Southern defense playing hard. Not many missed tackles at all
Stalled out drive to end the half. Robert Gunn II knocks through a field goal.
The best word that really sticks out to me when watching the first half was clunky. There was really a lot of good that happened offensively, and some REALLY bad that happened.
All told, a 7-point halftime lead and hoping for a cleaner 2nd half to come.
The Clemson defense is really good.

Clemson Leads Charleston Southern 24-17 at the half
